Teutonic thrash legends Kreator will grace Bloodstock’s main stage for the third time with their appearance on August 12th. A highly influential group, the band have gone from strength to strength since the release of the Violent Revolution record in 2001, largely viewed as a return to form following a decade of experimentation for much of the ’90s. A vicious mix of relentless riffs, sublime melodies and extreme aggression, Saturday’s special guests have all the qualities necessary to put on one of the best sets of the entire festival.

Writers’ pick: You can’t go wrong with any of the first five records, but Coma of Souls has to get a mention as possibly the greatest metal album ever. From their newer material, Enemy of God or Gods of Violence (review here) are your best bets, whilst Endorama is a good left of field choice (just don’t expect to hear any of it live!)
