The O2 Academy 1, 2 and 3 were all bouncing last night with a variety of bands, but Number 2 had an amazing capacity crowd. A few technical difficulties in soundcheck beforehand caused The Last Band to play to very few people at the start as they were on stage when the doors opened albeit 30 minutes late, but it didn’t take long before they were warming up the crowd well. Madame Mayhem then took over and bashed out some excellent numbers. Vocalist “Madame” sounding a little Lzzy Hale’esque has a formidable background and one which can only go on improving.
So this crowd was somewhat 50/50 and when Hardcore Superstar made an appearance the room exploded. Jocke Berg never stood still for a minute but then again, he never does. An excellent set by an excellent band. Always playing to a full room and that full room singing every song including “We don’t celebrate Sundays” …. one of their best …. it was brilliant to watch.
Finally it was Fozzy time. WWE wrestler, Chris Jericho, found himself wanting music in his life so he formed Fozzy back in 1999. Last night there was no trademark glittery lit up jacket from his wrestling days and one which he has used on tours, choosing to come out in leather and studs but still looking the part of a wrestler but now very much an exceptional vocalist, musician and songwriter.
All in all 4 fantastic bands who worked well together.
