Fresh off the release of their third album, Inglorious are breaking up their tour of the UK with a headline slot at the inaugural Frontiers Rock UK Festival. The success of this event in Europe has prompted Frontiers Music to bring their one-night-only binge of rocks finest bands to our shores. Where better to host such a gathering than in Birmingham, the home of rock and heavy metal?
The aim of the evening will be to highlight the best and brightest of the UK hard rock scene. City of Thieves, Doomsday Outlaw and Bigfoot are all bringing raw and authentic hard rock to the party. Bouncing riffs and choruses to sing along to as if no one is listening will be the order of the night. Some polished and infectious AOR melodies will come courtesy of Vega. One of the longest running bands on the bill, their fifth album, Only Human, was released last year to unanimous delight.
The penultimate act features the Best New Band at The Rocks 2018 winner, Wayward Sons. With only 2017s debut album, Ghost of yet to Come, under their belt, it speaks volumes of their rapidly growing popularity that they are this high up the bill. Their formula is one that has been tried and tested over decades, but there remains something irresistible about the groove and melody laid down by riffs like that of Until The End. It has been a while since such tunes were released though, will they have any new songs to show off? I guess you’ll have to go the gig to find out.
The last few months have been tumultuous for Inglorious to say the least. The release of Ride to Nowhere, just days ago, is haunted by the rapid turnover of band members in the preceding weeks. Regardless of your feelings on the matter, the fact remains that they are one of the most exciting and original bands to grace the classic rock scene in decades. Whether you are after high octane rockers, emotional ballads, or sleaze and groove laden riffs, Inglorious have got you covered. It is all brought together by THAT voice. Founding member Nathan James was born to be on stage. As all great rock singers do, he not only emulates the albums in a live setting, he eclipses them.
To get a line-up such as this at a single show you would normally have to wait until the summer festivals. But why wait until then? An evening of unadulterated rock n’ roll isn’t going to come any better than this.
