Norwich-based quintet LIGHTSCAPE’s brand new mini EP “For Present, For Past” follows up the success of their debut. The band has already picked up support for their new single “Running” from BBC Introducing, and deservedly so. LIGHTSCAPE’s sound is mature alt rock with some progressive leanings, heavy vocal and melodic hooks and very polished delivery, maybe even a little too polished for this reviewer’s taste.

The musicianship is stellar, thanks to great hooks delivered by guitarist Sam Nichol and Ben Ashcroft, punctuated by the great rhythm section of Christy Bullen (bass) and James Nichol (drums). Will Overton’s vocal delivery soars with a world class performance that is both heartfelt and pristine. Oz Craggs production serves the songs well, making the performances truly shine. The 3 song EP shows great promise, and even though the band picked “Running” as their first single, the power ballad “You Leave Me Here” is the real winner.

Great job, can’t wait for the full album! Lightscape Promo 1
