School night at the Robin2 but one which was full for the first night of the latest Vega tour. Shyyne opened up the evening following the late’ish soundcheck but people were coming in thick and fast and they played to a very appreciative crowd. These guys do it for the love of music and they just love to play …. end of.
Vega have chosen Gin Annie to support them on their tour dates and I was very impressed with how GA have gone from strength to strength over the last few years ….. always good but now a band who deserved the support slot and I couldn’t have been happier. A local band who have their band of followers just like Vega and that is always good to see.
Then it was Vega time and the Vegabonds were in full voice. Some had travelled far and wide to get to see the opening night and others were following them around from city to city for some of the tour dates…. what does that say ! A fantastic array of tunes from their albums. Love them or hate them you cannot fault what they do, how they do it and the love the crowd gives them. From my point of view, it is classic melodic rock at its best. Best song and one of my personal favourites is Saving Grace.
